WWF Survivor Series 1994 - November 1994

WWF Survivor Series 1994 - November 23rd 1994 - San Antonio, Texas

Matches
1-2-3 Kid, British Bulldog, Razor Ramon and Headshrinkers vs Diesel, Shawn Michaels, Owen Hart, Jim Neidhart and Jeff Jarrett (7/10)
Jerry Lawler and Royal Midgets vs Doink the Clown and Midget Clowns (5/10)
Bob Bucklund defeated Bret Hart {WWF World Heavyweight Title} (8/10)

King Kong Bundy, Tatanka, Bam Bam Bigelow, Tom Prichard and Jimmy Del Ray defeated Lex Luger, Mabel, Adam Bomb, Billy Gunn, Bart Gunn (6/10)
The Undertaker defeated Yokouna {Casket Match} (8/10)

Moments - Positives
A few great moments. particularly the turn of Diesel face as he turned against Shawn Michaels to what would eventually set up the Wrestlemania 11 main event. Also a classic moment as Bob Bucklund beats Bret Hart to win the WWF World title in a major shock as Mrs Hart throws in the towel after being fooled by Owen Hart!!!

Moments - Negatives
The midget match was pretty poor even though it had a pretty funny ending - it was certainly the low point of the event. The Bucklund match was also a little bit too long and could have been a bit better.

Overall Summary
An overall solid event with a classic opener, a great World title match and a terrific main event which was over a year in the making. The re-match was very good and The Undertaker showed that he was the best main eventer at the WWF during the closing years of 1994.

WWF Summerslam 1994 - August 1994

WWF Summerlsam 1994 - August 29th 1994 -  Chicago, Illinois

Matches
IRS and  Bam Bam Bigelow defeated The Headshrinkers (6/10)
Alundra Blayze defeated Bull Nakano {WWF Womens Title} (4/10)
Razor Ramon defeated Diesel {WWF Intercontinental Title} (7/10)

Tatanka defeated Lex Luger (8/10)
Jeff Jarrett defeated Mabel (6/10)
Bret Hart defeated Owen Hart {Steel Cage for WWF World Heavyweight Title} (9/10)
The Undertaker defeated The Undertaker (9/10)

Moments - Positives
Some truly classic moment at this event including Tatanka selling out to the Million Dollar Man which was very well worked as the crowd were led to believe Luger was turning heel. Also a great match between Owen and Bret Hart which had a classic ending and continued the great feud. And as for classic moments, the feud between Bearer's Undertaker and DiBiase's Underaker. A true wrestling moment that will never be forgotten.

Moments - Negatives
A few poor matches or simply matches which were not built up and turned out to be average. Some of the matches were slightly too long and seemed to be there to simply fill up the card which was poor from a booking perspective.

Overall Summary
Both negatives and positives in this PPV but it will always live on in the memory of wrestling fans as the time that the Undertaker fought the Undertaker which was an astonishing, over the top, soap opera and classic feud.  A must see just for the main event!

WWF King Of The Ring 1994 - June 1994

WWF King of the Ring 1994 - June 19th 1994 - Baltimore, Maryland

Matches
Razor Ramon defeated Bam Bam Bigelow (6/10)
IRS defeated Mabel (6/10)
Owen Hart defeated Tatanka (7/10)

1-2-3 Kid defeated Jeff Jarrett (6/10)
Diesel defeated Bret Hart {via DQ} {WWF World Heavyweight Title} (8/10)
Razor Ramon defeated IRS (7/10)
Owen Hart defeated 1-2-3 Kid (6/10)
Headshrinkers defeated Yokozuna and Crush {WWF Tag Team Titles} (6/10)
Owen Hart defeated Razor Ramon (7/10)
Roddy Piper defeated Jerry Lawler (8/10)

Moments - Positives
A few great moments including Owen Hart winning the King of the Ring and declaring himself the King of Hearts! Also a classic confrontation between Diesel/Bret Hart which signified the full throttle start of the new WWF Generation (including the adverts). Jimmy Neidhart turning on Bret Hart and helping Owen Hart win the KOTR was also a great moment. The Piper/Lawler feud was terrifically built up and truly showcased Lawler's heel ability.

Moments - Negatives
The King of the Ring tournament lacked a build up of the previous year. The individuals participating were not that great and it showed a lack of depth within the roster at the time. Having the Lawler/Piper main event was a negatvie as it ideally should have been the under-card to either the tournament final or the WWF Title match.

Overall Summary
Not as good as the previous year and nowhere near the level of Wrestlemania X. However the overall show was solid and the matches were kept pretty short which helped the event flow. The New Generation was showcased in the WWF title match but the depth showed at the time that the WWF needed to do a better job in building up their midcard. A great moment for the great Owen Hart who showed how great he truly was as a top WWF heel.

WWF Wrestlemania X - March 1994

WWF Wrestlemania X - March 20th 1994 - Madison Square Garden, New York

Matches
Owen Hart defeated Bret Hart (8/10)
Bam Bam Bigelow and Luna defeated Doink the Clown and Dink (6/10)
Randy Savage defeated Crush {Falls Count Anywhere Match} (8/10)

Alundra Blayze defeated Lelilani Kai {WWF Women's Title} (5/10)
Men on a Mission defeated the Quebecers {WWF Tag Team Titles} (6/10)
Yokozuna defeated Lex Luger {WWF World Heavyweight Title} (7/10)
Earthquake defeated Adam Bomb (5/10)
Razor Ramon defeated Shawn Michaels {WWF Intercontinental Title Ladder Match} (10/10)
Bret Hart defeated Yokozuna {WWF World Heavyweight Title} (8/10)

Moments - Positives
Some classic moments like Owen Hart finally beating his brother in a classic bout, Mr Perfect screwing Lex Luger out of the WWF World Title, Bret Hart winning the title and the locker room / Vince McMahon coming out to celebrate and one of the most fantastic matches in history which set a precedent for all Ladder matches to follow in HBK vs Razor. The poorer matches were kept short which also helped the event. Also check out Savage vs Crush - an excellent match which took the action backstage, one of the first time WWF did this during a PPV event.

Moments - Negatives
A couple of matches were quite average but as these were kept to a minimum not too many negatives at all.

Overall Summary
Although the main event doesnt live up to say Warrior/ Hogan and Andre/Hogan, the overall card was probably the best Wrestlemania card to date. Most of the matches were fantastic, had a story behind it and worked really well. Savage showed he still had it, Hart showed he truly was main event and Razor/HBK tore the roof down! An excellent start to 1994 given the great Royal Rumble too....

WWF Royal Rumble 1994 - January 1994

WWF Royal Rumble 1994 - January 22nd 1994 - Providence, Rhode Island

Matches
Tatanka defeated Bam Bam Bigelow (6/10)
The Quebecers defeated Bret & Owen Hart {WWF Tag Team Titles} (8/10)
Razor Ramon defeated IRS {WWF Intercontinental Title} (7/10)

Yokozuna defeated The Undertaker {WWF World Heavyweight Title} (9/10)
Bret Hart and Lex Luger both won the Royal Rumble (8/10)

Moments - Positives
Some very good matches during this event. The Hart match was very good and set up a classic feud between Owen and Bret which started at Survivor Series and continued during this event. Yokozuna's first truly great title defence was with the Undertaker and there was a classic ending to this match with everyone trying to help Yokozuna (all the heels) and the Undertaker then rising from the dead.
Finally, two wrestlers winning the Rumble itself also made this a truly memorable PPV and I thought it was a terrific twist.

Moments - Negatives
Very few negatives. The opening match was a little bit weak and the Razor Ramon match perhaps should have been a little bit shorter but overall not many negative points.

Overall Summary
This was probably one of the best Royal Rumbles to date which is surprising given the poor reviews I gave to Survivor Series and Summerslam. Some of the top stars like Bret Hart, HBK, Razor Ramon and Yokozuna began to really look like top main eventers and the PPV reaped the rewards for this. The various twists and feuds also gave the matches more of a story than normal which helped the event. A true classic.
