WWF Armageddon 2000 - December 2000

WWF Armageddon 2000 - December 10th 2000 - Birmingham, Alabama

Matches
The Radicalz defeated Hardy Boyz and Lita (7/10)
William Regal defeated Hardcore Holly {WWF European Title Match} (7/10)
Val Venis defeated Chyna (6/10)
Chris Jericho defeated Kane (8/10)
Edge & Christian defeated Right to Censor, Dudley Boyz and Road Dogg & K-Kwik {WWF Tag Team Titles Four Way Match} (7/10)
Chris Benoit defeated Billy Gunn {WWF Intercontinental Title Match} (7/10)
Ivory defeated Trish Stratus and Molly Holly {WWF Womens Title Match} (6/10)
Kurt Angle defeated Rikishi, Steve Austin, Triple H, The Undertaker and The Rock {WWF World Heavyweight Title 6 Man Hell In A Cell Match} (9/10)

Moments - Positives
The main event was fantastic. Simply excellent and with the Iron Man Match at Judgment Day was certainly my favourite of 2000. Its funny but this match does not get mentioned much in the history of Hell In a Cell matches but it was excellent. It lasted nearly 40 minutes and it was door to door bloody action. The storylines leading up to the match were brilliant and I loved Angle overcoming the odds and retaining the belt. The whole PPV was made by this one match. I also enjoyed the Lita/Malenko storyline for the opener, it was a brilliant feud. The Kane/Jericho match finally delivered and ended their feud in a great fashion, its a very underrated match which again should be up there with one of the best Kane and Jericho matches.

Moments - Negatives
To be honest there were not many negatives. The card was solid and average at times but you soon forget about the rest of the card once you see the main event. I dont like being one to give a PPV a high rating just because of one or two matches but I feel strongly with this one.

Overall
A solid event, average at times but with two excellent matches (Jericho/Kane, HIAC). The main event delivered beyond any hype and perhaps is a forgotten match because of the fact that it was not overhyped and not over advertised. Watch this event and trust me you will not be disappointed.

WWF Rebellion 2000 (UK) - December 2000

WWF Rebellion 2000 (UK) - December 2nd 2000 - Sheffield, England

Matches
Dudley Boyz defeated Edge & Christian and T%A {Elimination Tag Team Tables Match} (7/10)
Ivory defeated Lita {WWF Womens Title Match} (6/10)
Steve Blackman defeated Perry Saturn {WWF Hardcore Title Match} (6/10)
Crash Holly defeated William Regal {WWF European Title Match} (7/10)
Chyna and Billy Gunn defeated Dean Malenko and Eddie Guerrero (7/10)
Kane defeated Chris Jericho (7/10)
Right to Censore defeated Hardy Boyz {WWF Tag Team Titles Match} (7/10)
The Undertaker defeated Chris Benoit (7/10)
Kurt Angle defeated Rikishi, Steve Austin and The Rock {WWF World Heavyweight Title Four Way Match} (8/10)

Moments - Positives
This was a very solid PPV event for a UK based event with a great main event and continuing some good main stream feuds such as Kane/Jericho. The main event most certainly stood out and the celebration between The Rock and Austin at the end must have certainly made the event for those in attendance. Undertaker/Benoit was a solid match and there was a classic backstage skit where Radicalz attack Undertaker and yet he still manages to overcome the odds. There are also some funny skits from Angle as he tries to get his posse to help him during the main event.

Moments - Negatives
I was disappointed that the WWF decided William Regal should continue to be heel even in his own country, I felt the least they could have given him is a nice victory in front of a cheering crowd. I also felt Blackman/Saturn brought nothing to the table or to the event so was quite disappointed with the match.

Overall
A good event, I felt it was better than the previous UK event and it also felt more like a main stream PPV. One notable absence was Triple H which was a real shame given his drawing power at the time. Still it also did a nice job at building up Armageddon a week later.

WWF Survivor Series 2000 - November 2000

WWF Survivor Series 2000 - November 19th 2000 - Tampa, Florida

Matches
Val Venis defeated Jeff Hardy (6/10)
Steve Blackman, Crash Holly & Molly Holly defeated T&A and Trish Stratus (6/10)
The Radicalz defeated Chyna, Billy Gunn, Road Dogg and K-Kwik {Survivor Series Style Match} (7/10)
Kane defeated Chris Jericho (7/10)
William Regal defeated Hardcore Holly {WWF European Title Match} (7/10)
The Rock defeated Rikishi (7/10)
Ivory defeated Lita {WWF Womens Title Match} (6/10)
Kurt Angle defeated The Undertaker {WWF World Heavyweight Title Match} (8/10)
Dudley Boyz and Hardy Boyz defeated Edge & Christian and Right to Censor {Survivor Series Style Match} (7/10)
Steve Austin drew with Triple H {No DQ Match} (8/10)

Moments - Positives
This was a two match event in my opinion. Although the Jericho/Kane and Rikishi/Rock feuds were pretty good, the overall matches did not live up to expectations and were quite average however the main event and the World title match were terrific. The ending of Angle/Undertaker was a classic as Angle used a fake Angle to decoy the Undertaker and when the ref refused to count, Angle rolled up Taker and picked up the victory. The Austin/HHH match is a rematch of last year's No Mercy 1999 and it brings Triple H back to being a full throttle heel (After his tweening against Angle / Benoit). The ending of the match with Austin dropping Triple H in a car off a forklift is a true classic.

Moments - Negatives
The card was ok but a lot of the matches were quite dull. Even the Rock/Rikishi match which was actually a really entertaining feud gave me the yawns. The overall card did not keep my interest long enough and despite looking forward to Kane/Jericho I was ultimately disappointed.

Overall
This was a show made by two matches. They were in fact two very good matches and two very good feuds but I dont think they did enough for the show to make it an entertaining pay-per-view. Having said that, it was still better than a lot of other PPVs in the year so in the scheme of things I have given it quite a high score.

WWF No Mercy 2000 - October 2000

WWF No Mercy 2000 -October 22nd 2000 - Albany, New York

Matches
Dudley Boyz defeated Lo Down, Too Cool, Right to Censor and Tazz/Raven {Dudleyz Tables Invitational} (7/10)
The APA and Lita drew with T&A and Trish Stratus (7/10)
Chris Jericho defeated X-pac {Steel Cage Match} (7/10)
Right to Censor defeated Chyna and Mr Ass (7/10)
Los Conquistadors defeated Hardy Boyz {WWF Tag Team Titles Match} (7/10)
Steve Austin fought Rikishi to a no contest {No Holds Barred Match} (8/10)
William Regal defeated Naked Mideon {WWF European Title Match} (6/10)
Triple H defeated Chris Benoit (7/10)
Kurt Angle defeated The Rock {WWF World Heavyweight Title No DQ Match} (8/10)

Moments - Positives
Although the matches were pretty average this was a really enjoyable PPV. Firstly it featured Stone Cold's first match in nearly a year as he faced Rikishi, the man who ran him over in a brutal contest which ended with Austin trying to run Rikishi over and getting arrested - instant classic. It also featured Kurt Angle's first World Heavyweight title after only 11 months since debut with the WWF. An amazing fact. The match itself was also terrific. Also check out Edge/Christian pretending not to be Los Conquistadors - some classic skits backstage from those two.

Moments - Negatives
Naked Mideon - who ever thought of this gimmick should be shot. It was truly awful and I could not give the match anything higher than a 6. Although the match was ok, I was also really getting bored of the X-pac/Jericho feud. Thankfully this was the end of the feud so not such a negative!!!

Overall
This show was far more enjoyable than Unforgiven 2000 and although some of the matches were of the same quality, the feuds and the build up was better and I think it made the show something more enjoyable. Angle's victory is an important one in the history of the WWF so it is worth watching just to check it out.

WWF Unforgiven 2000 - September 2000

WWF Unforgiven 2000 -September 24th 2000 - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Matches
Right to Censor defeated Dudley Boyz and The APA (6/10)
Tazz defeated Jerry Lawler {Strap Match} (7/10)
Steve Blackman won 10-Man Battle Royal {WWF Hardcore Title} (7/10)
Chris Jericho defeated X-pac (7/10)
The Hardy Boyz defeated Edge & Christian {WWF Tag Team Titles Steel Cage Match} (8/10)
Eddie Guerrero defeated Rikishi {WWF Intercontinental Title} (7/10)
Triple H defeated Kurt Angle {No DQ Match} (8/10)
The Rock defeated The Undertaker, Kane and Chris Benoit {WWF World Heavyweight Title Four Way Match} (7/10)

Moments - Positives
This PPV event was focused on two things. One was the return of Stone Cold Steve Austin as he attempted to try and find who ran him over at Survivor Series 1999. This ended up in a double stunner on Steve Blackman and Shane McMahon in the ring to a huge ovation. A great moment. The other was the Angle/Triple H/Stephanie love triangle as it finally came to an end in a No DQ match - certainly the match of the PPV. The Cage match was also a classic for the WWF Tag Team Titles. Also a great moment is JR breaking a glass jar over Tazz's head.

Moments - Negatives
Whilst the rest of the matches are not exactly negatives they are very average, including the main event which felt like it was just thrown together and did not really get the build up it perhaps should have had. This was a shame as it was 4 main eventers in one match. Clearly the HHH/Angle feud took over too much as did the return of Stone Cold.

Overall
Compared to the last couple events this was certainly in the lower rating category. The main event did not get the build up it should have and was ultimately average. Yes the return of Stone Cold helped the whole show and made it a PPV not to be missed but if we look at the pure quality of the wrestling, HHH/Angle and Steel Cage tag match were the only two matches worth mentioning.

WWF Summerslam 2000 -August 27th 2000 - Raleigh, North Carolina

Matches
Right to Censor defeated Too Cool (6/10)

Jerry Lawler defeated Tazz (7/10)

Chris Benoit defeated Chris Jericho {2 out of 3 Falls Match} (8/10)
Edge & Christian defeated Hardy Boyz and Dudley Boyz {WWF Tag Team Titles TLC Match} (9/10)
The Kat defeated Terri {Stinkface Match} (5/10)
The Undertaker drew with Kane (7/10)
The Rock defeated Triple H and Kurt Angle {WWF World Heavyweight Title Triple Threat Match} (8/10)

Moments - Positives
The main event was a memorable one as it was at the height of the Angle/Triple H/Stephanie love triangle and it delivered! This was also the match were Angle was concussed half way through but still finished the match. Undertaker and Kane fougts a solid match and Undertaker ended up ripping Kane's mask off. Also a classic TLC match as a triple threat tag team rematch from Wrestlemania 2000 surpassed the original. Certainly one of the matches of the year. The best moment of the whole show though was Shane's fall from the titan tron. A classic moment.

Moments - Negatives
The start of the Right to Censor gimmick wasnt very good and although it evolved well, at this stage was pretty frustrating. The first half of the event had some poor matches in comparison to the second half and although entertaining, the stinkface match was pretty awful.

Overall
This was certainly a great show and it delivered everything which was expected. Coming off a solid Fully Loaded PPV event, this show continued the trend WWF were going through at the time where the second half of their PPV shows made the events and the first half seemed either hastily put together or of poor quality. Despite this though, the show was very very good.

WWF Fully Loaded 2000 - July 2000

Matches

Tazz defeated Al Snow (6/10)
Perry Saturn defeated Eddie Guerrero {WWF European Title} (7/10)
The Acolytes defeated Edge & Christian via DQ {WWF Tag Team Titles} (7/10)
Val Venis defeated Rikishi {WWF Intercontinental Title Steel Cage Match} (8/10)
The Undertaker defeated Kurt Angle (8/10)
Triple H defeated Chris Jericho {Last Man Standing Match} (8/10)
The Rock defeated Chris Benoit {WWF World Heavyweight Title Match} (8/10)

Moments - Positives
Some great matches during the last event. A triple header main event during which we witnessed the push of Jericho, Angle and Benoit - the future of the WWF at the time. All three matches delivered and were fantastic - worthy of the event itself. On top of this, there was a great IC title match between Venis and Rikishi who both were out to impress and were looking for their major push in the WWF. There were also some great spots between Angle and The Undertaker which were at times hilarious!

Moments - Negatives
The first couple of matches were quite average and I thought that the main event was slightly too long - this is nitpicking, it was a great show.

Overall
It was good to see young wrestlers getting their big pushes and they did not disappoint. It was a very solid show which also felt fresh as The Rock/Triple H ended their feud at the last event and we were seeing new feuds develop and new main eventers shine through. It felt like a turning point of sort.

Crash Holly defeated Bull Buchanan (6/10)
Kurt Angle defeated Chris Jericho (8/10)
Edge & Christian defeated T&A, Hardy Boyz and Too Cool {WWF Tag Team Titles 4 Way Elimination Match} (8/10)

D-Generation X defeated The Dudley Boyz {Handicap Dumpster Match} (8/10)
Kurt Angle defeated Rikishi {KOTR Final Match} (6/10)
The Rock, Kane and The Undertaker defeated Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon and Triple H {WWF World Heavyweight Title Match} (7/10)

Moments - Positives
This show will always be remembered by the great KOTR win by Kurt Angle. Angle was taking WWF by storm during this stage in the WWF. It was great to see a show centred around Angle who clearly was becoming a huge star. The Rock regaining his World title was also a great moment especially as he pinned Vince McMahon to win it. Finally, a cracking handicap dumpster match and WWF tag team titles match help the PPV stand out.

Moments - Negatives
The Pat Patterson/Brisco story was funny but took way too much spots in this event and the match itself was just a joke. Unecessary. I also didnt believe Rikishi deserved to get to the KOTR final and I would have much rather seen someone like Benoit get to the final. The format of the main event, although good in theory and had a very good ending, didnt work as a main event and it made the show seem a little bit inferior (it was a main event worthy of Raw Is War).

Overall
A few great matches and new Champions make this show a memorable one. Having said that, a combination of incorrect pushes and some poor booking taking over too much tv time meant that somehow the show didnt quite live up to expectations. There are certainly much better events in 2000!
