WWF In Your House 8: Beware of Dog - May 1996

WWF In Your House 8: Beware of Dog - May 26th 1996 - Florence, South Carolina

Matches
Marc Mero defeated Hunter Hearst Helmsley (6/10)
Shawn Michaels fought British Bulldog to a no contest {WWF World Heavyweight Title} (7/10)
Savio Vega defeated Steve Austin {Carribean Strap Match} (8/10)

Vader defeated Yokozuna (6/10)
Goldust defeated The Undertaker {WWF Intercontinental Title Casket Match} (8/10)

Moments - Positives
The Bulldog/HBK match has a great feud and builds up a rematch very well, Steve Austin is referred to as Stone Cold Steve Austin for the first time and his loss means that Ted Dibiase is fired from the WWF which was a landmark to give Austin the freedom to go on and become a superstar. This also marked the PPV debut of Mick Foley in the WWF as he interferes in a classic casket match by popping out of the casket and costing Undertaker the victory. This was a big historical moment and also set up a classic long lasting feud between Undertaker and Mankind.

Moments - Negatives
The structrue of the PPV jumps all over the place however reading around this is due to a power failure at the actual PPV. Some of the matches had to be rescheduled and re-run the following few days and therefore the World Title match is second on the card. The Vader/Yokozuna match was pretty slow and poor.

Overall Summary
Certainly an improvement over In Your House 8 although the matches themselves were not amazing. There were three great matches at the event which truly made the PPV. Also it was a great show to see that Austin, even at this early stage in his career at the WWF truly stood out as a capabale and charismatic performer.

SCORE = 7.5
